OKITE® Fun Facts Friday is here!! Check out some interesting facts about care and maintenance of OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces. Simple care practices can result in long lasting, resilient surfaces for residential and commercial applications:

• OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces are easy to maintain verses granite, marble, limestone or soapstone. In fact, all you need for accidental spills is to simply soak up with a paper towel, then finish cleaning using warm water and liquid soap detergent.

• Common household cleaners such as Windex® and green alternatives like Seventh Generation Multi Surface Cleaner® are also recommended for everyday care.

• For dried on stubborn substances, start by gently scraping away the residue material with a glass scraper. Then, clean your OKITE® top with a non-abrasive cleaning pad and household kitchen spray cleaner such as Soft Scrub Total Kitchen®. Rinse thoroughly with warm clean water and dry the surface with a clean cloth.

• Different from solid surface, granite, marble, limestone, soapstone, glass & concrete, OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces never need sanding, sealing or polishing.

The healthcare industry is growing at a rapid rate as the U.S. population continues to age. We have also seen population migration to suburban areas as a result of the pandemic. Both trends are driving the need for decentralized healthcare services away from urban hospital complexes to local care centers. These local care centers are being created by renovating vacant retail stores and offices into comfortable spaces that deliver outpatient services.

Interior design is being used to create warm environments in these new care centers. Most healthcare facilities feature spaces that can be changed to accommodate various needs with products that achieve comfort and operational performance goals. OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces are specified in healthcare applications because they are hygienic, very durable and nature toned. They will not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria and can be easily cleaned with standard disinfectants. OKITE® is a highly scratch and chemical resistance surface, compared to other products. This also means low maintenance as no sanding; polishing, or sealing is required in clinical areas. OKITE® also contributes to LEED v4.1 green building certifications and the Prisma series contains post-consumer recycled glass.

Common applications: reception desks, patient rooms, food service surfaces, gift shop retail displays, interior wall cladding, waiting room tables, nurse stations, integrated top and sink, kitchens, break room tables, laboratory surfaces and windowsills.
