OKITE® FAQs Friday is here!!! Do you know how OKITE® contributes to building with WELL Materials???
The substantial health benefits of low toxin building materials are well documented for impacting employee productivity, absenteeism and overall health. The WELL Materials concept aims to reduce human exposure to chemicals that may impact health during the construction, remodeling, furnishing and operation of buildings. Building with Well Materials can be accomplished using a number of disclosure tools to help identify safer ingredients and products. A Health Product Declaration (HPD) published on the public HPD repository is one tool that can help enable informed decision making for Well Materials.
OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces contribute to WELL Building based on the published HPD and other certifications like National Sanitation Foundation, Greenguard Gold and Kosher. OKITE® products contribute to LEED v4.1 green building certifications and some contain recycled content which reduces the impact on the environment. OKITE® is also hygienic, durable, nature toned and sustainable. They will not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria and can be easily cleaned with standard disinfectants. OKITE® is a highly scratch and chemical resistance surface, compared to other products. This also means low maintenance as no sanding, polishing, or sealing is required in climate-controlled spaces.

In 2023, the demand for life science facilities remains strong due to the need for new medicines and vaccines. Developers are therefore investing in new research lab facilities and renovating existing commercial assets, like warehouses and vacant retail malls, to increase speed to market. Designers are working with these clients to develop plans that meet satisfaction criteria such as budget certainty, durability, and modular systems which are committed to environmental sustainability. OKITE® Italian quartz surfaces are specified in these lab applications because they are cost effective, resilient and prefabricated.
